Winning the Prince Mangosuthu Ultra Marathon made him R100 000 richer, and Howick-born Nkosikhona Mhlakwana was also thrilled that it was accompanied by valuable advice from Comrades Marathon star Bongmusa Mthembu.

Mhlakwana (28) fended off tough competition to win the 52-km challenge in a time of 2:59:15 in Dundee on Sunday.

He won ahead of Ntsindiso Mphakathi (2:59:22) and Sboniso Sikhakhane (3:00:53).
