South Africa’s great number of fully-fledged and aspiring professionals in the rich sport of golf is confirmed in the fields for this week’s events at home and abroad.

Thanks to foundations — which were supported by apartheid in all honesty — the South African game has representatives at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland at the prestigious end of the sport and at the Vodacom Origins of Golf event in Gqeberha on the development side on Thursday.

Yet more “Saffers” will be teeing off in the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, U.S., as well as in more modest tournaments elsewhere on the globe this week, including Switzerland and Japan.
