Maritzburg United coach Ernst Middendorp is thrilled with the rejuvenation of striker Thabiso Kutumela and the fact that he will have an expanded selection pool for his relegation-threatened team’s next assignment in the DStv Premiership.

The veteran coach said Kutumela’s career seemed to be on the wane a few months ago amid Maritzburg’s slide down the standings, but the diminutive player has bounced back well to help his team pick up valuable points in recent matches.

Full of zest, the former Orlando Pirates star scored the winning goal for Maritzburg against Black Leopards at Harry Gwala Stadium last Tuesday, and the opening goals in drawn encounters with Bloem Celtic away on Saturday and Kaizer Chiefs at home on Wednesday.
