Maritzburg United remained on the general road to recovery at Harry Gwala Stadium last night, but lack of a “missile guidance system” allowed equally-desperate Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs to leave Pietermaritzburg with a 1-1 draw that looked very unlikely at one stage.

Ernst Middendorp’s relegation-threatened team have now gone three games without loss in the DStv Premiership, following a four-match losing streak that came about despite them having home advantage for most of those outings.
