The Sharks on Thursday confirmed the return of three former players, Cameron Wright, Khutha Mchunu and Lionel Cronje, for the next Currie Cup campaign.

The Durban-based rugby side announced the news on their Twitter page, and the signings are a welcome boost for the side as they are set to lose nine players to the Springboks for the British and Irish Lions tour.

The Currie Cup is scheduled to kick off later this month, with the Sharks travelling to Kimberley to face the Griquas for their opening game.

Scrumhalf Wright left the Sharks last year to join the now-liquidated Southern Kings, while Cronje makes a return from Japan where he was playing for the Toyota Verblitz since 2017.

Prop Mchunu left Kings Park in October last year and signed a short-term deal with the Cheetahs.
