One second can pass in a blink of the eye: imagine how fast a hundredth of a second is.

That was the initial difference between being gold medallists at the World Relays in Poland at the weekend.

Despite over 24 hours of travel, the quartet of Thando Dlodlo, Gift Leotlela, Clarence Munyai and Akani Simbine ran a season’s best 38,49 to qualify for the finals, where Simbine clawed back a 10-metre lead by the Brazilians, and that 0,01 second differentiated gold from silver.
