Ulster produced a clinical display to beat the Sharks 24-21 in the final round of the United Rugby Championship at a packed Kingspan Stadium on Friday evening.

The result means the Sharks’ top-four hopes are in jeopardy and they’ll need to wait until the end of the weekend’s action to see whether they will indeed host a home quarter-final. It also means Ulster are guaranteed to play their last-eight knockout in Belfast.

It was always going to be an uphill battle for the Durbanites considering Ulster headed into the game having won seven of the eight matches they’d hosted in the competition to date. While they managed to come close and did grab a losing bonus-point in the end, the lack of incisiveness Sean Everitt’s men showed with ball in hand is cause for concern heading into the playoffs.
