While Ernst Middendorp is still to win the battle to save Maritzburg United from being relegated from the DStv Premiership, the mentor is happy that he has won another key fight towards their big mission.

On Tuesday, Middendorp guided the Team of Choice to a crucial 1-0 victory over Black Leopards, who are now at the bottom of the table. Thabiso Kutumela scored in injury time from the penalty spot to help United move to position 15 from the foot of the table.

United and Leopards are both on 12 points, but the latter team have played one more game than the Team of Choice.
