Jazz festival for Cape Town

Cape Town - The third annual North Sea Jazz Festival will again be staged at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town on March 30 and 31.

The Cape Town festival has been modelled on the main North Sea Jazz Festival which is held annually at The Hague.

A pre-festival concert will be staged at the amphitheatre at the V & A Waterfront on March 28.

Over 30 local and international acts are billed to spread across four stages.

International acts which have been confirmed include: Spyro Gyra Band (US); Ahmad Jamal (US); Toots Thielemans (Belguim); Andy Narell (US); Tower of Power (US); Martinez Move (Netherlands); Erik Truffaz Ladyland Quartet (France); and Daniel Kuffer and the Stereodogs (Switzerland).

Confirmed African artists are Ringo Madlingozi; Louis Mhlanga; Judith Sephuma; Jazzworx featuring Paul Hanmer, McCoy Mrubata and Reddy D, Afro Cool Concept featuring Darius Brubeck and Barney Rachabane and the Allen Kwela Quartet.

A wide variety of travel and accommodation packages are available for the festival.

A jazz train is also planned to be part of the festival.
