Garankuwa - Former president Nelson Mandela on Saturday morning arrived in Garankuwa at the funeral service of Peter Magano, North West premier Popo Molefe's special advisor on traditional matters.

Magano (75) died last Saturday in hospital after a car accident. Magano, one of the first volunteers to join Umkhonte we Sizwe, spent 17-years with Mandela on Robben Island.

Molefe's spokesperson Mogomotsi Mogodiri said Mandela is scheduled to speak at Magano's funeral service at the Medunsa Sports Centre in Garankuwa.

Politicians, MP's and senior government officials including Molefe have started arriving at the venue.
