Johannesburg - Durban model-turned-estate agent Vanessa Marawa became a millionaire on Sunday when she won the first series of Survivor South Africa.

She beat rival Jacinda by garnering three votes to two at the live broadcast at M-Net's Studio 6.

At the press conference after the show, Vanessa said she has decided to move out of a career in estate agency - because she "sucked at it" - and would like to continue "doing" adventure.

Asked how she will spend the R1m, she admitted to dreading the question, saying that "it is one of those things where you can't make promises. I'm going to have to sit down and give it some thought.

"Obviously I would like to invest some of it for myself, and thereafter we'll just have to wait and see".

The 27-year-old was also unsure about staying in Durban.

While Vanessa took home the R1m, the three runners-up got no money, but instead were awarded a year's internet connectivity from the show sponsor I-burst and a modem.
