Helsinki - Helsinki - Finland's two-time Formula One world champion Mika Hakkinen will return to the sport, as a television commentator for the Finnish-language version of pay-for-view channel Canal Digital, the station said on Wednesday.

According to Canal Digital's web page, the Finnish sports icon will begin his new career at the USA Grand Prix in Indianapolis at the end of September, but the channel added that it hoped to retain him on a permanent basis.

Hakkinen decided to take a year off from racing last year after being one of its most celebrated drivers during the past decade, and finally decided to bow out of Formula One for good earlier this year at the German Grand Prix.
