Johannesburg - The freezing, unseasonal wet weather failed to put a damper on Jomo Cosmos who romped to an easy 3-1 win over Hellenic in a one-sided Castle Premiership fixture played at the Rand Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Cosmos led 1-0 at half-time.

The wet and slippery conditions seemed tailor-made for Hellenic but the Cape side failed to get out of the starting blocks and were chasing shadows for most of the 90 minutes.

The star of the afternoon was CosmosÆs Mozambique striker Nuro Tualibudane who netted a brace - one goal in each half. Tualibudane opened his side's account when he dribbled past a cluster of Hellenic defenders and fired home the opening goal in the 18th minute.

The classy Mozambican international made it 2-0 in the 58th minute when he beat both the offside trap and visiting 'keeper John Goodwin with a blistering shot.

Hellenic's best effort came in the 76th minute when Cosmos 'keeper Avril Phali did well to deal with a fierce shot from Robson Chisango.

Lucas Tlhomelang put the icing on the cake when he latched onto a defence-splitting ball from substitute Tebogo Mokoena and blasted home goal number three eight minutes from time.

Hellenic scored a consolation goal thanks to a Grant Young penalty in the 87th minute, after defender Thabang Molefe was adjudged by referee Jerry Ngwenya to have fouled substitute Mark Joubert inside his penalty area. - Sapa
