Africa - Colonial Umbilical Cord

Francophone and the Commonwealth

Why do African States continue to maintain lines of colonial identities?

La Franchophonie Nations

The 57 member states are comprised of 720 million people (220 million in africa), with a GDP of $7.2tn in 2012, while over the past five years, the average growth of the francophone area has risen by 3.2%.

Commonwealth of Nations

53 member states. Estimated population of 2.328 billion, near a third of the world population, the Commonwealth in 2014 produced a nominal gross domestic product (GDP) of $10.45 trillion.

These are injurious Membership

Will the wind of political change invade Zimbabwe and South Africa?

South Africa must focus on bilateral relations, G20, BRICS for now, UN, SADC and AU, etc.

It could be argued a sad tale that South Africa keeps membership of a Smuts and Hertzog created organization.

Likewise, the French hold over African states is disruptive and holds Africa backwards. The 14 African nations which still keeps its national reserves in France, effectively removing sovereignty of these countries.

For Africa to develop, it must be fully independent of these archaic organizations that protect former colonial masters France and Britain.

These organizations work against African unity and intra-African trade. They keep the borders as colonially drawn and create foreign masters. This occurs whilst these masters are breaking their walls to trade amongst each other at the same time protecting their African markets for raw materials and soon for cheap labour.

Before delinking Africa from the International Criminal Court, the first step to be taken is to delink from Francophone and Commonwealth organizations, these organizations keep Africa linked to cultures that destroyed her and left her blind. Africans can not complain that her children look up to foreign influences when at the same time we still have The CommonWealth Games and the like. These two colonial masters organizations have not contributed much to Africa's rebirth, neither have they contributed to connecting Africa as a single continent.

Keeping these two organizations alive will perpetuate the Europe divide between France and England. Theirs is not our competition.

Agenda2063 requires a United Africa, not one divided according to the French and English people. Not one divided according to foreign imposed cultures.

There will never be a reason to build African institutions for as long as this is franchised to these protectorate organizations which cost Africa far more than money, but peace and stability.

It is costly to keep these memberships going and some African states still have to have full time ambassadors in them.
