After the penny dropped

First Penny Sparrow , then Vicki Momberg in publicly recorded # RacistRants. There must be hundreds of such that fester like a scab over the wounds of a deeply but not mortally wounded nation. When will this insane conduct stop? How can we stop it?                               Even if you surgically remove the scab with hate laws, the subcutaneous wound probably isn't healed and you have situations that trigger their bursting forth. And like every unhealed wounds they suppurate and cause such an odious stink that it affects everybody. Like many people I know,I could have wished that my life had been a more simple affair. But, to paraphrase what Czeslaw Milosz writes in "The Captive Mind", I had no say regarding the time and place of my birth. I was born at a time when the NATS came into power and started passing laws as well as recalibrating our history along colonialist ideas and, for the purpose of  accommodating its practice by a strategic ally  at the height of the Cold War, it began a life of its own soon to become embedded as a normal way of thinking and doing things. That is the genesis of what we're experiencing right now. South Africa is experiencing a transition as the ertswhile nasciturus emerges through the narrow birth canal and has reached maturity. As an expectant father I had a legitimate expectation that the soon to be born child will be a normal one! That's not to be. It seems that We who played midwife still have work to do and that is, once again to roll up our sleeves and to reconcile people about issues like common destiny and shared nationhood of equals.

There' s no other way ....
