Census 2011 - What the rugby fan needs to know

2012-10-30 09:09

Census data is being released today faster than Father's Day cards arriving at the Hofmeyer household. What on earth does this mean for your average sports fan, you may be asking. Well I pulled some pretty interesting numbers out! Take a look.

Some of the stats are certainly enlightening. In terms of gender, Western Province fans were the most equally distributed with 32% male, 38% female and 30% undecided. 56% of Cheetahs rugby fans marked the field 'sex' with the words 'Asseblief'.

72% of Sharks fans listed Natal as a place they would like to visit one day. 23% of Cheetahs fans listed 'leave' as their favourite activity in Bloemfontein. 48% of Lions fans listed 'Cheeky Watson' as a disability whilst 67% wrote 'sick and tired' under health status.

35% of Province fans listed their occupation as 'hipster' whilst 19% wrote 'Jou Ma' under the heading spouse's full name. 68% of Bulls fans responded 'brandy' for which type of fuel they use most often and 31% of Eastern Province Kings fans listed 'Boet Erasmus' under field of education. Strangely 58% of Sharks fans wrote 'Currie Cup Final 2012' as their highest level of education.

Interesting enough an overwhelming 78% of rugby fans wrote 'Ask Andy Capostagno' under the section asking what school they attended and 63% replied 'better than Victor Matfield' under their proficiency in speaking English.

It's all in the numbers!
