Change of (Bok) plan, now!

Thanks all for the contributions, this would have been very helpful during the SA Rugby safari, apologies, I meant indaba.

@ Morne Julius – the players were probably so low on confidence, because the basics were clearly lacking. Mallet would rather take the easy way out (cosy job in studio) than be in the line of fire by actually contributing in an Indaba or coaching capacity.

@TurningDog – let’s hang on with that All Blacks (jersey) idea and rather see whether the structural changes by SARU will reap any rewards. What I take out of it as most important is that the Executive instead of full council will select Bok teams going forward. This should mean less people (of influence and power) to please.

@oh shucks – thanks for the support. John Smit was axed by the public game after game, but I supported him as our number 1 hooker although admittedly he wasn’t always the best based on form. He was just such a brilliant leader. I was hoping his position at the Sharks was a way of smoothing him into SA Rugby, but sadly he resigned after a short stint.

@Jason Bezuidenhout – good point, but how many (white) Daddy’s/fathers really push their kids to play soccer instead of rugby?

I personally think that we have enough talented coaches in this country, but need to appoint a foreigner because he will be unbiased and impartial and not connected to anyone. Jones earned his stripes (as an International coach) so he would not owe anyone any favours should he get the Bok job. Look at how the ‘favourite’ sons drop out of the England setup, because he only rewards hard work, discipline and required skills/talent.
