EFF Minority Groups Seminar Launch

2014-03-29 20:23

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) invites members of the public to its inaugural “Minority Groups Seminar”; this includes the following groups of people:

•People living with disabilities;

•Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex people (LGBTI);

•Women; children and elderly people;

•Minority races including white, Indian and coloured people ; and

•People living with HIV/AIDS, TB and chronic illnesses.

The EFF is against the oppression of anyone based on their gender, gender expression, or sexual orientation, meaning that we are against patriarchy, sexism, and homophobia in all of its manifestations. The EFF is also against tribalism and religious and cultural intolerance. The EFF opposes any cultural or religious practices that promote the oppression of anyone, especially groups that have been historically oppressed by such practices.

The EFF believes that gender-based violence and related anti-social activities are reinforced and even sustained by the deplorable general conditions of our people. Therefore a key to female emancipation is the emancipation of all. The EFF will emphasise transforming the lives of our people in the poorest of areas from one of generalised structural violence, as a mechanism to end all violence, including violence against women.

The EFF Government will have a special unit in the police, supported by special legal and social work services to combat the open assault on women. The EFF does this because it recognises that our society has reached a state of crisis when it comes to rape and violence against women and also lesbians living in townships.

EFF has a duty and an obligation to develop a full programme that will apply every day of the year not as it currently stands under the ANC regime. The current regime has displayed a cold and callous disregard for the well-being of women, abused children, the elderly, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people; people living with HIV/AIDS; and other vulnerable people with disabilities.

Political parties do note always recognise the importance of minority groups; gender sexual rights and EFF plans to fill that gap. The “Minority Group Forum” within EFF hopes to break down such barriers and build understanding and solidarity in their place. Also people living with disability need to be considered and the needs to be catered for in general.

Therefore, the EFF invites people who may be affected or who sympathise with such minority groups listed above to be part of their inaugural launching seminar which is due to take place under the following details:
