Enough! Stop with the destruction of colonial era monuments! Your point is made.

To the angry people out there and whom this letter finds though this blog space I implore you, I say enough! Stop with the destruction of colonial era monuments! Your point is eloquently made. What started as a flash of lighting presaged a coming storm. Lets harness its power but lets do this creatively and  beneficially.

My generation exploded in 1976 when we had an effete leadership that lacked the compass to forge a free society content, instead to a quisling status. Now its your turn.

I concur that the past remains to haunt us, you and I, leering at us through scowling statues and monuments and betrayed yet again by those who come with promises to liberate us,who bedeck us instead, with fineries of a new slavery makes you to turn to unfeeling stones to express your frustration and your anger. Is this your first step, your first salvo in the civil war many a rip van winkel says is not happening?

I reckon it is but I still say 'enough' ! Your point is made. Instead of destroying all that was achieved in good will and in the spirit as well as ethos that our living constitution presents as a template, I believe that you as concerned citizens can contribute meaningfully and concretely and achieve its prescripts, but not through destruction of our history. These monuments and statues remind us why SA exploded in 1976. They do so again. We need them so that we don't dare repeat their vile deeds.

I concede that CODESA and the Multi Party Negotiations did not comprehensively address issues that still haunt us today.

And yes, as I have repeatedly maintained here and elsewhere that the politically driven TRC process was a monumental failure and that is why I reiterate that we,the people,  demand a civil society driven process to deal, within the letters of the law and the Constitution, once and for all, with all that the process let slip through the crevices of its own self congratulating vanity.

Government is finally sitting back , I believe, and attentively listening and ready to act in concert with rational decisions that can restore peace and dignity to all. Right now the world is watching, noting your anger and lest it acts to undo all the gains that were achieved since 1994, I say pause or stop and act as responsible citizens and not to become pawns and cannon fodder for political parties led by demagogues clothed in the garbs of democracy and constitutionalism. History attests to what has happened in Germany that produced a hitler and we recoiled in horror as the truth of the holocaust seeped into our consciousness.

South Africa belongs to all who live in it and that includes those who have sought and been granted refuge and therefore its irrational and abominable that you should turn against them.

Stop, and ponder the next steps you take, for your future and the future of your country and be the calibre of citizen you want SA to be.
