From #NotSenzosDad to Gareth Cliff

2014-11-07 23:49

This past two weeks have been really crazy. Are we bored as South Africans or are we finally catching on to what the world has been doing for a while now? From #NotSenzosDad to Steve Hofmeyr's stupidity. What a couple of weeks.

Sam Meyiwa became an instant celebrity after his gesture of gratitude went viral. People were posing from their cars all the way into dustbins and coffins. While many enjoyed being part of this trend, some protested against this saying it was mean of people to ridicule him. My opinion is that this was really an innocent act which was ruined by his activity in the lead up to that moment. Black Twitter even said that Senzo's untimely death unleashed a monster. Oh, and what's up with Senzo getting a statue? There is so much wrong with this. I am not going to try and sugar-coat this one. The guy played seven games for Bafana and he gets a statue. I thought that was for the people who have been exceptional for SA football. We then decide to give him a statue for playing 7 games which he wouldn't have played had Itu been fit. Absolutely a big NO from my side.

So Gareth Cliff was in the news again. This time he was labelled as a racist. To be honest I read the tweets and that was laughable to suggest that. Our honourable minister of sport (which I have tremendous respect for what he has done for SA sport ) should have not commented in this matter. His comments were not consistent with what a progressive leader should be saying. Was rather impulsive in his comments. The funeral was huge and one wonders where the money came from to organise the such a funeral. My guess is that all this was so that we forget about our MIA President. "But that's none of my business"

Steve Hofmeyr got a court order against a puppet. Yes, you read right, he went and got a court order against a puppet. I have zero respect for this man, but after this I have drilled a hole to ensure that my respect is in the negatives. As for his comment on Twitter where he blames Black people of South Africa for Apartheid, I feel like this dude should just go live in a remote island where he can live with wild animals.

Things are really interesting right now. We might be looking at a very interesting last two months of the year. From Juju having a 30 day holiday to Doing the Bra Sam. We will always find something to focus on. Only when we question why things happen, will we see how ludicrous our society is and through at least we can push for some kind of accountability.
