Halala Bafana halala

What an incredible match! I still can't believe it. Did we just beat the World champions? European champions? The number 1 ranked team in the world? Oh Lord please don't let me wake up from this dream.

Bafana South Africa is proud of you, some will say that this was just a friendly and nothing tangible can be taken out of this victory. Well I say to those pessimists, get a life. We just beat a team consisting of the best the world has to offer. If that's not worth celebrating then your pessimistic view of life is quite depressing.

Tactically and technically we matched them and defensively we were superb. We could have scored more goals had TK converted some of his chances but who cares we still won and that's all that matters. The midfield pairing of Andile Jali, Dean Furman and Oupa Manyisa matched the world class trio of Alonso, Iniesta and Busquet. The scary part is that even with the substitutions of the Pirates duo we still managed to match our Spanish counterparts. Defensively we were solid rarely gave anything away.

Some wondered why he was South Africa’s sport star of the year, well if you watched the match last night you would have found your answers. Captain my captain Itu was world class. It was hard enough to get past our defense and every time Spain did Khune stopped everything. We didn't have to park the bus, Khune was the bus! Definitely the best keeper in the world, yes I said it! If Man City and Barcelona want a world class keeper, then they should look no further than SA's no 1.

The scene in the dressing room after the match with the President and former President where breath taking. The first citizen showing the team that the whole nation was behind them. Some on twitter named it the #Msholozimagic (he beats anything he comes against).

The team played their part on the field and the only low point was the large number of open seats in the stands.  We as the public need to get behind our players, we need to show them love and appreciation. They represent us and we need to support them when they play. The 12th man on the pitch is invaluable and a prerequisite for success.

I hope Bafana build from the momentum and confidence they earned from this victory and go on to lift the Chan Trophy. Let us rise from the doldrums and stake our claim in Africa and  world football. I believe that we can and we will, in Gordon we trust.

Viva Bafana Bafana Viva!!!
