Hi, can we get more leaders who actually lead by example with those fries please

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You’re playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Marianne Williamson Young people are still negotiating a complex reality wedged between apartheid, a post-apartheid era where poverty and violence are the norm and the knowledge that they will inherit an uncertain future. Over the last three months I must have spoken to over 1000 young people about our country. We have discussed challenges we face in this country, we have discussed opportunities and resources however the one topic that came up with 98% of them had to be the fact that we need more credible leaders. Accountability and true leadership is lacking and it has to be improved. I have studied a concept that I strongly believe we need to implement in this country from Presidency level downwards. This concept is so basic yet so efficient. It is called the “domino effect” which I have explained in detail in my book EMPIRE which will be in book stores by April 2015. We need to liberate ourselves so that we can indirectly liberate the people around us, look at Sibusiso Leope. What this man has done for our country will never be accurately quantified, thousands of young ambitious boys and girls wake up every single morning with a purpose and most importantly hope, for a better future. Unfortunately we still live in the generation where young people are not given huge responsibilities so huge positive impact by young credible leaders is still a foreign concept. We cannot expect kids that just enter high school to be equipped with life-skills and self-confidence to take up leadership positions if they have no role models that are a few years older than them to learn from. The problem with most of these youth leadership programmes is that they cover the first part of the two step process, they do teach young people the necessary life skills and give them the relevant self-confidence but they forget about the second part of the process. The second part of the process depends on participation and representation, where the youth are selected to input into processes and represent their peers on decision-making bodies. I want to challenge our government to start employing younger ministry heads, younger MEC’s and younger leaders in the various political parties. Right now, in 2015 there is still that gap between old leadership and new leadership, there is still that gap in the induction of new leadership and the mentorship into responsibility is still not present.
