In danger for their talent?

2014-06-01 07:51

First it was the inscrutable Advocate Thuli Madonsela under attack from government quarters and now its the turn of NPA head Mxolisi Nxasana! Amazing and unacceptable. Mxolisi is under threat because of his talent.Period.

Mr Nxasana is doing a sterling job restoring respect and support for our embattled prosecuting authority and his fearless pedigree should be applauded as well as his impeccable honesty and integrity.

Why,I dare to ask, is it that so late down the line, are the issues that Mr Nxasana was forthcoming about at the time of his being considered for the post now being resurrected? Claims that he did not receive "security clearance" because he allegedly failed to mention that at the age of eighteen he was acquitted of murder based on self defence by a court of law is spurious as well as tendentious. Why now? All that was on the table when the shortlisting and interview process was taking place.

We are entitled to an answer and we expect those who raise these spurious allegations to put up proof or shut up. Let the man do his job.

This could constitute grounds for constructive dismissal if this nonsense goes on and, government has consistently being made to pay our tax money for its blunders.

We have no evidence before us of any wrong doing on his part in relation to the position he holds as head of the National Prosecuting Authority. Lets stand up and raise our voices as we did when Advocate Thuli Madonsela was being threatened and virtually being burnt at the stake like Joan D'Arc, in support for Mr Nxasana and demand that either his detractors put up tangible proof of malfeasance or they shut up and allow him to do his constitutionally mandated job without any sword hanging over his head.

Where are the political parties? What is their position in all this?

In three words "Leave him alone".

PS: You may not agree with my blog piece and it is your right to do so. But at least tell me why you disagree.I have suffered the slingshots of many a commentator most with reasons why and I grow stronger with that. Its to the pinch hitter, I humbly appeal, that person who makes a generalised statement that I find offensive and I have to respond appropriately. Lets talk and see how we can move forward. There are far bigger issues that threaten our constitutional democracy.
