IS THE ANC ALSO CAPTURED ?

2016-11-09 12:31

The former public protector report on state capture recommended that the president must appoint a judiciary commission to investigate further on the matter. The report further implicates ESKOM for irregular awarding of tenders to Tegeta, a Gupta owned company, including the president and his son Duduzane, as well as some senior ANC officials who held senior government positions.

Is the ANC also captured? Obviously there is no need for a commission of inquiry to investigate that. Then who must proclaim that the ANC is captured? Neither political commentators nor members of the media, but the ANC itself. The ANC president is answering questions to the public protector about the state capture. Where does that leave the ANC ?

The ANC youth league president was assisted by the Guptas to obtain his home finance and he is not denying his relationship with the Gupta family. Further, the KZN ANC youth league had publicly reaffirmed its support for President Zuma to lead until the end of his term. Is the ANC youth league also captured? The current youth league does not seem to care much about issues which affect the youth directly, as long as president Zuma remains in power. That's what matters to them.

The ANC women's league have vowed to protect the president even with their buttocks. That's a heavy statement. Whether it was said literally or figuratively. When the NEC met to decide on the future of president Zuma's fate after Deputy Minister of finance Mcebisi Jonas shockingly revealed that he was offered the position of finance minister by the Gupta family, Bathabile Dlamini reminded all NEC members that they all have some little scandals. Unfortunately, no one followed-up on what she meant.

It is public knowledge that ANC, NEC and NWC members are captured by scandals, that's a reason they cannot remove president Zuma from his office. There are also those who chose to remain silent to protect their positions in government and in parliament. If the ANC has to elect an interim president, obviously a cabinet reshuffle cannot be avoided.

Finally is the ANC members and its branches, are they also captured ? It seems as if their minds and thinking ability is also captured. They cannot think beyond Zuma. The ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa is captured by his political ambitions to become the next president of the ANC and of the country. It is good to have ambitions and aspirations, but it becomes a problem when it clouds your judgement and decision making.

The only thing that is remaining uncaptured is the ANC policies, which needs men and women of integrity to execute them.
