Julius Malema should be rested not over-used

2013-12-20 18:21

The reasons behind the speeding of the Commander in Chief of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) reveal urgent issues that require attention and at the same time are concerns for worry for the person of Julius Malema. Currently, it appears that the EFF revolves around Julius Malema, and every avenue is exhausted to bring him before the party building campaign stops. At the end of the day he is fallible and human and will soon burn out.

EFF is maturing and mellowing well nationally and now its strategy should revolve around themes, contract, charter or proposals for South Africans. And all members of the executive should leap forward. I know already that the other EFF executive committee members are already seen increasing their profile and media visibility. That is good for EFF -- that way South Africans are making a balanced assessment of their respective backgrounds and credentials. This also help to take away some of the attention and heat from the Julius Malema.

Before we continue with our view let us look at the circumstances and issues that led to Julius Malema being detained for high speeding:  “Economic Freedom Fighters, together with its Commander in Chief, fighter Julius Malema would like to apologize for the regrettable incident of contravening the speed limit on the N1 in the Vaal region. The CIC, who was on a tight schedule, was on his way from Bloemfontein to attend to an urgent program in Alexandra”.

“This is after he had been in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday 17th December, in Queen’s Town and King William’s Town, meeting with former mineworkers, and on the same day in the evening was in meetings in Johannesburg. The following day, early morning he had to be in Kimberly, Kuruman to meet with the Kgatelopele Asbestos Forum and in proceeded to Bloemfontein for a meeting that lasted till the early hours of Thursday morning. In Bloemfontein, the CIC attended to structures of the EFF in the Free State Province, including on the same Thursday in which he urgently had to travel to Alexandra. The CIC also had meetings to attend in Johannesburg in the evening. In essence, it means he would be in three provinces in one day, stretching also between distant towns”.

Clearly no mortal can achieve this schedule constantly and continuously without crushing and burning. The credence of my argument is that while the Julius Malema remains focused on building EFF at the broad national level, there are also other issues at the provincial and local government levels requiring urgent immediate attention, which the other executive members should focus on.
