Manny vs Money: The predetermined outcome

2015-05-04 12:21

In a kingdom hidden from the modern world an ancient duel was going to decide who the rightful king was. Two kings, one a scoundrel, woman beater, narcissist named Money from the clans of Meiweather and the other, a phoenix king from the people of the small tribe of Philippine, known by all as Manny. Both emerged from the ashes void of any royal skill, to battle it out, once and for all. It was rare in this land for kings not to be born of noble talent. The nobles, made up of jesters, histriones and musicians, seemed to overlook the transgressions of the Money and embraced him into the confines of the elite. On the contrary, the Manny, rejected by the self-elected nobles, had become the champion of the people. In his home of Philippine he had extended his heart and hand to the downtrodden whereas in an ironically fateful twist the Money, also from a humble origin, had fused his new life with those of the noble to forget where he had come from and only celebrated the practices of the rich. Due to the nature of this hidden kingdom, which only aimed to rejoice the elite, none of the humble folk were able to attend the duel, for it was only open to a select few. Almost 100 golden coins for a seat next to the battlefield. One the eve of the duel the Money was summoned to the chambers of the noble council, as the noble king usually was before a battle. Sitting in the chambers Money observed the portraits against the wall displaying the kings of the past; the legendary brawler from the district Tyson, the Lewis from the small town Lennox, a griller from the Holy Fields and the mythical Ali from the Muhammad region. The lords slowly entered the chamber and took seat behind a large stone altar. On the left, the lord of the single ladies - Jay Zee, to his right the lord of puffy combs – Diddy and then at the throne sat the Don of the kings. The Don spoke loud and confidently, explaining accurately to Money that all he had to do was survive the three round duel and that despite any of the people’s champion's accomplishments they would still proclaim him king. Then they all embraced each other and paid homage to the gods of the past. The following day the kingdom was overwhelmed with festivities and the people of this land were noticeably divided. The nobles waiting patiently for their Money to be announced victorious, and the humble folk, hoping their champion would become the true king. The duel lasted the entire three rounds, a spectacle to the eye, the Money dodging all the Manny’s blows, running away the entire time, forcing the Manny to chase after him with his sword. There were moments when the Manny caught the Money off guard and forced him to stumble but the blows were not enough for him to succeed and by the time the horns blew and the winner announced, the humble folk were once again left cheated by Money. The gold riches of the nobles always seemed to prevail in this kingdom. Whilst nobles from abroad and ministers of Fikile returned to their land with the tax money they used, the people’s king Manny returned to his humble roots, still a giant in their eyes, not corrupted by the nobles and his legacy intact.
