Nelson Mandela was a Radical Opinionated Genius!

2013-12-06 00:13

Nelson Mandela is dead. He died quietly in his sleep. His life was dominated by waves of energy from ether that though to express themselves here on earth making the world a better world for you and me. The better world that Michael Jackson king of Pop was singing about.

The death of Nelson Mandela is the news of the world. The facts of his life are generally known, does not so much deserve repetition here.  What is of particular view here is seeking to understand the one distinguishing characteristic feature of him that provides a world wide force and world wide attention. It is easy to trace Nelson Mandela's life in as much as it is easy to make some historical comparison for better understanding of the man.

In 218 BC Hannibal, an African general set out from the African Continent to invade the mighty Roman Empire. At this time the Roman Empire was taking over the known world by force of the military. Hannibal set himself on a mission to stop the mighty empire.

In order to achieve this Hannibal had to walk long arduous thousands of miles and over horrible terrain. He had about 40 000 soldiers and 37 African elephants. The purpose of the African elephants was meant to strike fear and terror in the hearts of Romans. Hannibal and his men and the African elephants marched these thousands miles “through a land that was under water”, suffering terribly from tiredness, their knees wobbling as they walked. They crossed the Apennines during which Hannibal lost his right eye.

Hannibal was so brilliant a general that he beat the Romans. He outwitted them, outfought them and within 2 years in 216 BC he was camping along the walls of Rome, where he distinguished himself for his ability to determine his opponent's strengths and weaknesses, and to play the battle to his strengths and the enemy's weaknesses, subduing the tribes of Romans through clever mountain tactics and stubborn fighting. Hannibal and his men occupied and controlled much of Italy for 15 years. He did this by applying mathematical, geometrical and physical principles of dynamics.

The critical fact with Hannibal was not so much that he outfought and beaten down the Romans, but that he took a long walk to achieve a grand vision for he had. His was a timeless vision of getting rid of Roman dictatorship that was unfolding across the Mediterranean. He cherished an ideal of a free society, and he was prepared to die for it if needs it. He was resolute and he was fearless. He wanted to revenge and bring justice to other people that were subjugated and coerced under the grip of Roman rule and Roman domination.

Often regarded as one of the greatest military strategists in history, Hannibal is also considered one of the greatest personalities of antiquity, together with Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. And we might add in these modern times - Nelson Mandela.

Like every great genius that has ever graced our world with their presence, and enriched us in the process, we never understood Nelson Mandela, a radical and opinionated genius, who had a vision of a free world of peace and justice, and challenged the unjust, hypocritical structures of his country.
