Netanyahu: Address Root Cause Of Israeli Conflict

2014-07-02 03:45

Following the discovery of the three missing Israeli settler teenagers who disappeared almost three weeks ago, some very provocative statements are being made for revenge on the suspected or alleged perpetrators.

It would be a serious error in judgement should the Israeli regime use this as a pretext to use more violence to avenge the death of these three teens. It would only lead to more bloodshed, counter retaliation and could further escalate the tension.

In this highly tense situation, I call on all parties, especially the Israeli regime, to exercise maximum restraint. Violence is not the solution. Violence produces more violence and increases hatred.

No reason can justify the murder of innocent human beings. The senseless killing of the teenagers need to be thoroughly and objectively investigated so that the perpetrators be brought to justice in a court of law.

Like the occupation of Palestine or the house demolitions or the murder of Mohammed Dudin, who was shot to death by Israeli Defence Force (IDF) troops, the murder of these three Israeli teenagers is also a serious criminal act that must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Blaming this inexcusable act of terror on a community or an organization without solid tangible evidence is also a crime.

According to news reports no Palestinian group, Hamas or any other group, has taken responsibility for the action.

These killings could be carried out by mischief makers who want to derail the new Palestinian unity government.

Unfortunately, members of both peoples have lost many dear ones in the course of a seemingly never-ending bloody struggle which is going on for many decades.

When will this hatred, killing and irrationality end? The only way to stop this insanity is to address the root cause of the conflict, namely the occupation of Palestine by Israel. An amicable and just solution will put a stop to all this pain and carnage.

My prayers are with all who are affected by this legitimate struggle for human rights and a life of dignity, and I continue to pray for the establishment of peace with justice for all who live in the Holy land.
