Netanyahu: Stop Shouting Wolf

2015-03-05 22:42

The most recent speech delivered by Benjamin Netanyahu to the US Congress was nothing new, the same old rhetoric Iran, Iran, Iran. This speechmaking that Iran is close to obtaining a nuclear weapon” and that Iran is a “threat to the entire world” is nothing new for conscious driven individuals. We have been hearing these statements over the past many years. According to an article, Netanyahu wrote in his book, Fighting Terrorism, Iran was “five to seven years at most” from possessing an operational nuclear facility. Several years has past, and Iran has still not accomplished this objective. Furthermore, according to the recently released spy cables by Al Jazeera, Mossad — Israel’s intelligence agency’s formal assessment of Iran’s nuclear capacity and intentions differs from the scenario outlined by the prime minister at the United Nations in 2012. Israel is generally regarded as the Middle East region’s sole, if undeclared, nuclear giant. Iran on the other hand, in the estimation of most experts, is still years away from actually producing nuclear weapons. As a non-signatory to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, designed to prevent the global spread of nuclear weapons, Israel is not subject to inspections and the threat of sanctions by the IAEA. Permanent members of the UN Security Council and the global community should also seek nuclear disarmament conditions from Tel Aviv.  Justice demands fairness and equity. There can be no stability and peace without fair play. The call should be for total elimination of nuclear weapons — every nuclear power plant is a potential bomb factory and a source of radioactive waste that will remain deadly forever. Peace driven individuals and loving people follow only one route: “a nuclear arms-free world”. Over the years Netanyahu has done an excellent job of distracting World attention from the brutal occupation of Palestine and focusing the world’s attention on Iran and the possibility of nuclear weapons. The Netanyahu regime needs to focus on the real issue affecting world peace and stability- The Palestinian struggle for freedom, equality, justice, human rights and dignity.
