No Thank You DA, Hello ANC

“Black youth distrust DA, survey shows” This survey excluded white apologists.

I wish it wasn’t about race - but - who can govern South Africa better, but it is unfortunate that it has to come down to race because of our history, welcome to South Africa. I love it here, because as much as we can hide away from the fact that race is still a bigger issue - IT IS A BIG ISSUE.

Not so long ago The University of Cape Town (UCT) was at the centre of a race row after its student newspaper, Varsity News, published a controversial chart polling "the most attractive race" at the university. Followed by A Johannesburg doctor claims she was disrespected because of her race by paramedics and bystanders as she tried to help a road crash victim. In another incident, A Limpopo pharmacist has been fired for making a racist remark to a colleague. Then there’s the case against Rudolph Viviers, who is accused of killing a Muslim man.

Now these are just a few articles related to race in South Africa in which the DA never commented on because the DA believes that there is no race issue in Cape Town and the rest of South Africa, of course the DA would say that in order for them to get that “trust” from the black youth that they are not about race……..NOT when the inequalities of Cape Town still exist, not when there’s Swellendam.

Now, how do I as a black youth trust a party that tells me there is no race problem? A party that has a say about everything in the country but silent when it comes to race matters? The DA thinks it can appeal to the black youth through that Lindiwe Mazibuko? The tea lady of the DA and the gardenboy Mmusi Maimane. These two are no different to Barack Obama, a trained puppet who is placed in a high position to fulfil the interests of those who are really in charge. Maybe it was good for the DA to appoint a race-neutral Lindi Mazibuko. Helen Zille had no choice but to put Lindiwe Mazibuko and Mmusi Maimane on top as “a new era for the DA”

Lindiwe Mazibuko had to be accepted to a large number of racist whites – ok maybe ‘soft’ racists - who were willing to vote for an exceptional black woman, the same way they have one Black friend as proof they are not racist. However – and I throw in my own Amen – a top leader in a party that is known as a “white party” who continually ducks racism, under the cover of political expedience, is actually doing great harm to any long-term goal of uniting disparate people.

We must not forget that the DA is National Party (Lite); in 2000 the DP (DA) joined forces with the New Nationalist Party to form the Democratic Alliance (DA). But the NNP withdrew from the pact in late 2001, and was disbanded in 2004. Leon resigned as party head in 2007, to be replaced by the Madam, Helen Zille. The DA’s large support came after the NNP disbanded because they couldn’t exactly go to the last party that dearly reminds the nation of Apartheid, the Freedom Front Plus. So now you can understand why the black youth does not trust a party that recruited National Party voters, does nothing for the coloured voters who put the DA in power in the Western Cape, a party that continues to hire white males over black males, black and white females and coloureds.

Helen Zille’s “army “ in parliament  is majority white males. Now as a black youth you want me to trust that party with my vote?

Race is integral to South African politics and often employed as a campaign tool by politicians. The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) “Fight Back” campaign of 1999, dubbed “Fight Black” by the (ANC), played on the fears of minority groups and made the party come across as being against transformation and against the ANC.  The latest mistake by the DA was the #KnowYourDA campaign which sees the ANC being labelled as that PW Botha, whoever advised Madam Zille on that one was high on something serious. The DA is a post-liberation offshoot which is trying to win the black youth with its campaign. The role of the African National Congress in the struggle against apartheid is a matter of public record. Many heroes of the struggle were maimed, tortured, killed, fed to crocodiles, and poisoned by the white apartheid regime and Madam Zille has the nerve to refer to the ANC as Nationalist Party? The DA cannot remotely pitch itself against true liberators of our people. Comrade Marius Fransman (ANC Western Cape leader) is correct in noting that the DA's credentials as "a party that fought apartheid is a cynical and opportunistic exercise in propaganda. This move by the DA shows that Madam Helen Zille is dancing on the graves of struggle heroes of this country.

A DA pamphlet showing former president Nelson Mandela and activist Helen Suzman embracing was in fact uncalled for and unnecessary, Even though Mrs Suzman was against apartheid, we cannot accept the suggestion that she totally shared the world view of Mandela and his ANC. Nevertheless, the DA must be reminded that Nelson Mandela as an international Icon, he went to that Rivonia trial as ANC, he was sentenced to Robben Island and later sent to Pollsmoor Prison as ANC, he was voted to The Presidents seat as ANC and retired as ANC, as opposition you are disrespecting the ANC, disrespecting ANC followers and dancing on the graves of the struggle heroes.

The DA screams service delivery around the country but what has the DA done in Gugulethu and Khayelitsha? besides renaming the streets? Last year, an attempt to rename a section of Jan Smuts Drive in Athlone after the late struggle hero Dullah Omar was abandoned when his family could not agree to the change. They had insisted that the entire road be renamed after him.

The DA in our eyes still remains as a white party, therefore, a white face in power is still a threat to the older generation and as the black youth we reject the idea. The present DA comes from a history of white apartheid privilege, oppression and super exploitation of the black majority.

The #KnowYourDA campaign was a bad move, it may be appealing to white apologists but others have gone right back to the fence.

So I urge you all not to be fooled by the DA, the ANC is doing a great job and will continue working for the people. Come 2014 we must all unite and vote for the ANC.

MY ANC, MY FUTURE and MY VISION....The ANC lives, the ANC leads and it will continue to lead....AMANDLA !

#ThankYouANC

P.S:  If the DA wants to attract the black youth, it must by any means necessary keep them away from the News24 commentary section which is a park for racist South Africans. Its funny.

Example: HEADLINE  "Hendrik Verwoed is arrested for killing a boy(13) playing in his farm" Comment: "he did the right thing, what if it was ANCYL comrades planning to attack him" - "Mr Verwoed must be going through a terrible time, poor man"

HEADLINE: "Man Gunned Down in Sandton" comment: "You see these ANC  people(blacks) bringing this country down" that time the article has not mentioned any race
