OUR MINDS ARE STILL OPPRESSED AND TIED WITH A SHOE LACE.

2015-04-27 14:57

A chicken that is tied with a shoe lace in the legs will never notice when the shoe lace has been removed because in its mind the shoe lace in still in its legs. It can not see but rely on the mind. Only when you force the chicken to stand up or move that the chicken will realise that it's legs are free.

This is what Plato talks about when he talks about idealism which is not focussing on what people perceive and the existing knowledge but on the real world that exist outside what we know or believe. Our minds consume first available information and are never transformed to reality.

Our minds are still oppressed

21 years after the chains of oppression were removed from our arms and legs and been given freedom we still not free in our minds. Oppression and boundaries that were created by oppressors still exist in our minds. In our minds we still see ourself as black people who are less important and who have no ability to achieve in life.

We are free but in our minds we are not and that is why after 21 years of freedom many South Africans are still depending on government for social assistance and the level of unemployment is high. South Africans are blind to the business opportunities that exist in their door steps. Our minds are still not free, not free to see the real world and open up to the reality of life.

We are free but if our minds are not transformed to that freedom what we are celebrating is just an event. No government can transform our minds and change the perceptions we have about ourself but only us can change that. We need to open our minds and see the real world. And see that we are free.

lets stop being our own slaves and smell the freedom.
