Q&A with the beautiful and successful Sihle Makhanya

Sihle Makhanya

  1. Who is Sihle Makhanya?

She's a beautiful, smart, very ambitious, go getter who's not afraid of going after her dreams regardless of her gender. She's a business woman & a model. A true reflection of a modern day woman

  1. You are a young confident successful woman; how did you get to where you are today?

A few things have helped me to be the Sihle I am. For example: My faith (Christian) has played a leading role in my confidence & where I am. The support from my parents & family at large. Not forgetting my friends. It’s very easy when you're young to feel discouraged now & again but having a close circle of people who are constantly being positive even when you're down helps a lot in achieving you goals and being confident.

  1. What have you done so far to celebrate women's month?

Honestly I celebrate women's day every day of my life. I know the sacrifices & struggles our past generation have gone through. So every day I make sure to take advantage of the endless opportunities South Africa has given us as women. I know my own mother couldn't achieve her dreams of being a singer and travel abroad because of apartheid. I remember she once told me she almost got killed for trying to go after her dream. That is why I am so determined & destined to achieve every big dream I have set out for myself.

  1. What made you enter Miss SA?

Miss SA is a great platform to network with people especially if you're goal is to be in business. That was one of the main reasons why I entered. I 100% believe that the modern day woman is beautiful, smart, business woman & can also celebrate herself (modeling). It was a great platform for me to show other SA women that we are that generation & use the very same platform to open up doors for other women who don't have the same opportunities

  1. Who are your role models?

My parents. They exemplify the definition of hard work & going the extra mile to achieve your goals & also support your children. Like any child, I know I have disappointed them many times (like dropping out of Varsity at 20) but they continue to support me through it all. I have decided to re-enroll in Varsity again and they're supportive

  1. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I'd love to be the 1st woman of color from Southern African & 1st petite model to be a Victoria's Secret angel.

Business wise I see myself doing business abroad and also be a world renowned brand that helps woman realize their own strength.

  1. What's your idea on the #FeesMustFallReloaded campaign?

I support it fully. Every child deserves the chance to be educated regardless of their family background. I hope our leaders see this movement as a huge cry for help and also take action.

  1. What advice do you have for the young girls out there?

It's ok to be beautiful, smart, business minded and every other fabulous thing you can be as a woman.

Go for everything you've dreamt of no matter how big it may seem. Don’t allow your background or society to determine your outcome. You are destined for greatness.

  1. What is your ultimate goal?

Victoria's Secret angel

A successful business woman

Most importantly if I've been able to change any life on my own journey.

  1. What is the one quote that you live by?

I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.
