Quick Q&A with Deepak Chopra

2015-03-19 07:35

I had the opportunity and privilege to attend the Deepak Chopra event last night at Emperors Palace which was hosted by OVAL companies. He spoke about the future of well-being, he spoke about career well-being, emotional well-being, social well-being, spiritual well-being and how are they all connected and how our consciousness actually affects and influences everything that happens in our body, mind and soul. It was phenomenal, Deepak has such profound words that actually make you sit back and reconsider your life. The talk was about 2 hours long and he also spoke about awareness and concepts that encourage growth away from suffering.

We even had a 20 minute meditation session which personally allowed me to answer the questions that we believe we have the answers to but in fact due to our busy schedules in everyday life we tend to sometimes forget or lose direction towards the answers to these questions. Questions like: What is my purpose? Who am I? What is happiness to me? What is joy to me?

After the event I managed to speak and do a quick Q&A with him. Please find the Q&A below:

What advice do you have for the youth of South Africa?

Don’t conform. Get rid of all boxes, I think the most important thing that young people can contribute is their creativity otherwise education is just nonsense. Information overload

How can you best describe creativity in a human being?

Creativity is the context, meaning, relationship and story.

How does it feel to be back in South Africa?

I am thrilled. I love South Africa and I the meaning behind the word Ubuntu.

How do you improve your self-awareness?

You should always be authentic. You should always express your passion. You should observe yourself being inauthentic that is being authentic to observe your own inauthenticity.
