South Africa is now a full blown poverty country!

2012-07-09 17:04

In many respects everywhere you look in the majority of cases South Africa is now a backward country. While the majority of African countries are making giant leaps forward South Africa is increasingly becoming a backward country in form, character and shape. Democratically elected politicians have successfully made this country a poverty country.

Many South Africans are still drinking water directly from rivers, water that is so polluted that it can even kill a bull, and human beings are forced to drink such water everyday. There are no taps  not only in the remotest far away villages but even in places like Hammanskraal just close to the cities. The democratically elected government seems not to care about the plight of the poor. What they are good at is offering empty promises and slogans like "second transition" just long enough to deceive the people so that they can continue to stay in power to plunder the resources of this country.

South African children are still without classrooms taught under trees in dusty grounds. The democratically elected politicians in charge of this country seems not to care about the plight of the poor. Many South African children travel distances to get to school, some of the children even have to swim across polluted dangerous rivers to get to the school on the other side and yet we have democratically elected politicians who are dead mad interested in themselves and their families than anything else. Nearly half of schools don't have libraries and laboratories. Thousands and thousands of schools across South Africa are without electricity and water. Hospitals are crowded, dirty, dilapidated without proper medical facilities, with such grave conditions doctors are helpless as they see their patients die in droves.

Students are without text books in poor schools while politicians are bickering only concerns about keeping their jobs and privileges. Billions are squandered luxury like the mooted idea of taking government and buy a R2 billion jet plane for Mr Jacob Zuma. This is unbelievable - how was someone going to enjoy travelling in such a jet in the midst of such full blown poverty and misery? Where is the genuine concern for the people?  Money that should go to the development of the country is taken and abused by the elected politicians and their families.

More than half of young South Africans are without jobs sitting and severely depressed at home. Many have lost hope and therefore depressed and empty. Why does the politicians seems not to care? Every day people in this country die because of misery and poverty or sicknesses that are associated with severe depression that comes from the shame of unemployment and neglected by their politicians they trusted. More than half of our youth are hopeless and without jobs. That means more than half of South Africa is hopeless and in deep severe poverty. And the politicians seems not to care otherwise they would have done some interventions with the millions and billions of money they squander on themselves and their families. Many people have lost their worth and dignity as human beings while our elected politicians runs large with hefty pecks from government coffers. We are living in the second apartheid not second transition. The effects and conditions of the majority of the plight of many South Africans have gotten worse under the democratically elected politicians than it was during the apartheid as we know it.

Our towns and cities are full of shacks and our politicians are perpetually busy building RDP houses everywhere. Someone once commented that these RDP houses are not houses but chicken houses because they are so tiny for human beings but for chickens to live in. Look at Alexandra township, it is still the same township squalor and more filthy as during the days of apartheid - no real fundamental improvement only cosmetic development just to cover up.

Currently in this new South Africa, the country has one of the highest mortality rates in the world for children under the age of 5. In 2011 alone 75 000 children under the age of 5 died because many can not be admitted to hospitals because there are no beds.

Sadness and despair are experienced everywhere by the majority of South Africans while the politicians and their families are getting more and more filthy rich. If you have a different view, what is that view, where are the improvements? Where is development? Why there so much poverty and hopelessness. Who is responsible for this country.

Why should we now believe the politicians when they talk about radical development  if they get elected again? Are not these same politicians that got elected by placing billboards in every street corner about "Better Life for All". Where is the better life? Why are taps still running dry without water after people have begged, prayed and cried to the politicians in charge of this country
