Winning the South African of the year award for Dr NKOSAZANA Dlamini Zuma which was organized by ANN7 television station has strengthen her supporters campaign for her to be elected as the president of the ANC.

It has been a tradition of the ANC to be nominated as a president, firstly you must have served as a deputy president. This time it look like the ANC will change its tradition and this change will have long term implications to the leadership of the ANC. Currently she is serving in the ANC NEC but not in the top six. The ANC is unpredictable and it can change its traditions whenever it suits them. Seemingly in future candidates for presidency can rise from a branch level to Luthuli House.

She has served as the minister of health in the first democratic South Africa and further as the foreign affairs minister. Currently she is the chairwoman of the African Union. In the ANC she is a credible comrade and command support from the women's league and the ANC youth league. On top of that she is a dignified woman and down to earth persona. Academically she is a medical doctor by profession as she began tertiary education in 1967 at the University of Zululand and she obtained her BSC degree in Zoology and Botany. later in her busy political life she further graduated from university of Transkei with a Doctor of medicine in 1997 and in 1978 she also continued with her studies at the university of Bristol.

One of her achievements include the following :

-Renaissance woman award of the year she received in 2012.

- She continued to collect more accolades as she was awarded with the state women of the year award in 2004.

-In 2012 she was awarded the Grand Maitre de L'orde national by the Republic of Mali.

-Tobacco free world award in 1999 by World health Organisation for introducing the tobacco act in South Africa

-Women who make a difference in 2002.

-South African of the year award in 2015 organized by ANN7.

She has struggle credentials and she is from exile. Moreover she is a mother of four children.

However, there is one problem with her, she shares the same surname with the current president of the Republic of South Africa president Jacob Zuma. After so many years she still calls him" ubaba "(father) which means she still submit to him. According to Isizulu culture there is no divorce. Yes, indeed she is still a Zuma and loyal to him. It will be remembered that she refused to occupy the vacant deputy  president of the Republic of South Africa position to replace president Jacob Zuma when he was released from his duties by president Thabo Mbheki after she had deliberated and discussed the matter with her children. Obviously she was sympathetic and submissive to him by declining the position. President Zuma once said South Africa is now ready for a woman president was she paving a way for her ?

NKOSAZANA Dlamini Zuma kept the Zuma surname for so long without knowing whether it will open or shut doors for her in life.

Culture will also play a role here, African men have a tendency of disrespecting women leaders especially if they are not married. Will she be forced to rekindle her marriage to have someone to accompany her to state functions ? She's not a kind of a woman who can get married again at her age or find herself ubaba omncane (Ben 10). Without being gender insensitive or being a chauvinist. Fact of the matter is that she needs a right hand man to be taken seriously as a woman president.

So, if NKOSAZANA Dlamini Zuma becomes the president will she takes orders from Nkandla ?

It will not be fair to judge her like Khulubuse Zuma, Duduzane Zuma and president Zuma who have been heavily criticized and judged for various reasons. She must must be judged as the president of the ANC not as a Zuma.
