SPIN: e-Toll sham denialists

2015-01-18 16:29

A few denialists will claim that e-toll is a sound economic decision. This is not new. The cigarette and tobacco industry uses these special types of experts to dispute the smoking-cancer link. The oil industry uses them to question the science behind climate change.

Sometimes denialists are hired by public relations firms. They are often provided with lucrative funding for their ‘research’, and for selectively writing and speaking on these issues. Some have even been known to fabricate their studies to manipulate and create doubt in government and public thinking.

Not too long ago, Thabo Mbeki and Manto Tshabalala-Msimang were sold by denialists. Regrettably, they bought into the non-consensus HIV-does-not-cause-AIDS view. This decision led to thousands of HIV positive mothers needlessly transmitting the dreadful disease to their children.

You can almost be certain that the logic and evidence presented by the e-toll denialists is unsound. The overwhelming body of neutral experts agree that e-toll is not economical.

The Gauteng government and public must be smarter. Do not get taken in by the denialism nonsense. Work together and scrap this uneconomical sham.

e-Toll ! e-Nough !
