The human suffering of the ongoing complex crisis that began in Syria in 2011 is unacceptable and cannot be justified. The number of women, children and men affected by the war is progressivingly rising and the ongoing war taking place continue to inflict irreparable damage both on society and the lives of innocent families and communities.

The Syrians are not victims of a natural disaster but victims of a brutal and ruthless dictator.

Mothers, fathers and siblings who witness mounting killings and arrests of their loved ones have lost all hope of intervention and assistance from global leaders or the United Nations (UN). This makes it vital to expose the horror of the Syrian crisis and war in general.

While superpowers are playing geo-politics to satisfy their super - egos, over 100 thousand Syrians have lost their lives and hundreds of thousands of people experience significant losses due to attacks and looting by the regime’s army and displacement.

Syria, ruled under a state of emergency following the military coup carried out by the Baath party in 1963, has been governed by the Assad family since 1970. The late Hafez al Assad, the father of the current leader Bashar, used extremely harsh measures to rule the country. He chose a violent and brutal path to crush any uprising against his unjust rule. Several massacres took place under his rule. In 1982 during the Hama Massacre approximately 50 000 people were killed and about 20 000 people were reported missing.

The current wave of cruelty started after the people began demanding reform and to live a life of dignity and equality. Bashar instead of listening to the people and fulfilling his promises and pledges to the people as a leader began deploying the army to violently and brutally suppress the legitimate demands of the grass- root masses. This led the people to take up arms against the brutal regime and injustices.

With the help of Iran, Lebanese based Hezbollah and mainly Russian arms, Bashar al Assad is mercilessly butchering and killing his own people.  Many people and commentators believe that the onslaught is directed mainly against the Sunni population of Syria. The amount of Sunni Muslims that are displaced in their own country or are in the refugee camps around Turkey and Jordan proves this claim.

While I was in a Turkish hospital receiving treatment for my injuries sustained in a motor car accident in Syria, I met a young girl of about 8 or 9 years old and her father. She was already in hospital for about five months. She sustained serious injuries to her right leg due to a bomb being thrown by the regime forces at their motor vehicle killing her brother and sister. This is just one of many similar incidents that I heard of. While in Syria I personally witnessed homes, schools, places of worship and other infrastructure bombed and ruined. Bashers has destroyed Syria and send it to the ''MIDDLE- AGES''.

Unfortunately due to censored news coming out of Syria many people including the global community are oblivious to the human suffering there.

Some countries like Russia and Iran, for their own personal reasons, are preventing the masses from winning the GOOD fight and ousting Bashar Assad. Both Russia and Iran need to realise that the rights of the people are more important than their own geopolitical aspirations.

It is now long overdue and imperative that global leaders and conscience driven people use all possible means to save lives and find an amicable and just solution to the crisis in Syria.
