The Future is Brighter

2016-02-20 23:29

  • While chilling like an Eskimo in his natural habitat, I found myself just looking inwardly to my deepest desires. I looked so deep, it felt like the penny would never hit the bottom. I was treading in emotional uncharted water and this was not particularly a fun exercise. It had to be done though. For a moment I felt like The Scarlet Speedster running through the speed force being exposed to everything that was, that is, and what will hopefully be.

Opinions are like someone's past, everyone has one but when it comes down to what matters most, it does not rank all the high up on the proverbial priority list. It is painstakingly sad that we often judge people about having a past filled with demons that terrorise the damned, which is odd considering how in the public eye we preach how it is the future that matters.

We live in a society that preaches forgiveness and reconciliation but no one is ever given an eighth of a chance to see that possibility. We cannot let the demons of our pasts rule us like a monarch.

There is a beautiful realisation I came to while I was stuck in the depths of my thoughts and somewhat my spiritual side. "The future is determined by our past" said no one ever. Our futures are being written now, not yesterday, but now. Even if we could time travel, changing the past would not do us any good. Looking at some of the people history has deemed to be heroes, we can see a common thread. There was a lot of emphasis on the future and making that future possible by building it in the present day. Not building from the past.

We need to take up arms in the effort to write and invent the futures we fear so much. I now understand what they meant when they said that the future is here.
