The Question of God Considered and All Arguments Settled

Every age has a distinguishing characteristic mark that a historian can spot and make a comparison with other ages. What is the characteristic mark of the age we are living in? It is an age concerned with developments of technological (mechanical) instruments and then applying them in human affairs thus causing tremendous powerful changes in the way we live. But precisely it is the age of reason. What is reason?

Reasoning is observation and then making inferences or arguments based on the observed phenomena and then basing your life from these mental observations - making these mental arguments and observations the basis of living.  In this context that which can not be observed is not considered. All sacred texts, the authoritative Bible, the Myan Calendar and others speaks of the invisible God who remain invisible, remain beyond observation and yet existing and all powerful.

So in this age of reasoning in the majority of cases, in universities of learning the concept of God is not considered. Scientific postulations and books are written arguing the existence of God - in short God is not in the lives and daily affairs of people of this age. And therefore the age we are living is the age of the application of the knowledge of people based on the reasoning - what is observed through the naked eye or through the assistance of mechanical scientific technological apparatus. All these are recorded in philosophical books, Internet etc and quoted daily in newspapers and other daily social media to inspire people of this age.

The removal of the invisible God on the majority personal affairs of people generates sensations of happiness and freedom - people can approach and indulge life without worries of God. Therefore we are living in the age of people aspiring personal pursuit of happiness. The motives of living is not about doing good, good morals and selfless living, self denial but the pursuit of pleasurable feelings - that is the modern day goal of living and the characteristic mark of the age  even those who still pronounce belief in God they do so half hearted and superficially.

Reasons can not figure God because God is beyond scientific arguments and postulations. So people are living below God - they are cut of from that which is beyond visibility - that which is beyond reasonings and thinking. That is modern day freedom - it has no higher central piece to guide it, what it sees is personal benefits of fun life and pleasure and it works dead hard for this. It drives its power from technology - mechanical devices - with these mechanical devices such as computers, cellular telephones it gatheres all ideas, opinions and information to plunge itself into all kinds of personal pleasures and personal fun. Death - physical death, the death of the body that we all face eventually and ultimate universal judgement all these are put out of consideration in the modern age.

Thomas Hobbes was the philosopher who lived in the times the Enlightenment: reasonings, philosophical arguments and science beginning to swing the world becoming basis of life. Hobbes published a  book titled Leviathan in 1651 in response to this phenomenon of the free thinking enlightened man.

Man, said Hobbes, is naturally wicked. Hobbes argued that man is a purely selfish creature always seeking his own advantage in every affair in life. People have no higher aims, no good except the satisfaction of the self. People have no freedom besides their freedom to follow their passions and pleasures.

The basic principle of modern living, continued Hobbes, is selfishness and with everybody struggling and fighting one another seeking selfish pleasures, the natural state of man is what Hobbes called the state of war – the constant struggle against man and man. And in this unregenerate state of nature – the lives of people are solitary, nasty and brutish.

In this book Hobbes compares Man without the essence of God to leviathan. Leviathan according to the Bible is a demon. All books and letters in the Bible describes demons as creatures created by God who were once with God living under control of God but now severed ties with God to living without God thus becoming dark spirits walking and rooming the world free cut off from God.
