The Real Reasons for EFF Press Conference!

2017-06-09 01:08

That the Titanic called South Africa has hit an iceberg and is now sinking is no longer news. That corruption in parastatals such as Transnet is too much is no longer news. That people who deserve nothing are pocketing billions and are asking all of us to go to hell is no longer news. That vicious cartels are mercilessly eating the country is no longer news. That South Africans on a daily basis are told lies and more lies by those in power is no longer news.

And EFF called a press conference to talk about this. EFF went into the press conference yesterday to talk beyond the corruption. Corruption in South Africa is no longer news. The country was glued to the EFF press conference not listen to new stories about corruption or the laying of charges against corruption but they just wanted to watch EFF.

For sure the revelations that EFF made during the press conference are astounding and shocking, but South Africans are so brutally raped that nothing shocking is shocking anymore. South Africans are so numbed about the evils done on them that they just want to forget and carry on with their daily lives. They feign forgetfulness in order to survive. The sheer challenge of processing and holding in the traumas of daily corruption is a recipe for disaster, so people just want to forget to go from one day to the next.

EFF knew that the press conference was going to be packed by most senior journalists in the country not because of exposes of corruption but about EFF itself. The national mood is; now that the ANC has disintegrated totally and DA is momentarily subdued, where is EFF?

The ANC is a basket case. There is really nothing that anyone can do about the ANC. I feel the pain of those who are on a doomed mission to resurrect the supposed glory of the ANC. However, there is something that they need to know. You cannot resurrect dead empires. Any effort in saving the ANC will just multiply and quickens its inevitable death. The coming ANC elective conference in December will be a sharp knife that cuts the ANC to pieces and finishes it off. The spirit that took the ANC up is no longer the zeitgeist of the new age.

And the second biggest political party, the DA, is momentarily subdued and impaired. The DA can still pull itself up, and will surely do, there is no way for it to turn back after it has advanced so far forward that now it has become a universe of all races. But for a moment its mobility is impaired.

And the news, the real news, the hot news is: in the midst of all these, where is EFF? The press conference was to answer this question. And the nation was glued to the press conference to get the answer.

Solid and taking over

The EFF  was impressive throughout the conference. The press conference resembled SONA (State of the Nation Address). The role of the State of the Nation Address, in part, is to illuminate the issues we care about as South Africans and outlining plans in how to go about solving problems. More importantly the SONA gives South Africans a context of the country. This is what EFF did yesterday. The EFF leaders came with research papers and position papers showing their worth in analyzing the malaise eating the country.

The EFF gingered South Africans into a deeper awareness of their rotten condition, and urged them to break out of the complacency that enables South Africa's so-called leaders to get away with grave crimes committed daily against their own people.

It is worth noting that the EFF press conference was trending above the cabinet briefing that took place earlier. The hash tag #EFFpresser and  the keyword Malema took the number 1 and number 2 positions on social media trending charts from 12H00 pm when the press conference began and remained there on the hot charts the whole day, right to the evening. It was only overtaken from the number one position during the night with the unfortunate sad news coming from Western Cape, the raging storms and raging fires.

Brace yourself, the EFF is now entering the game of thrones!
