Zareef Minty: How does life really work

“The moment you’re ready to give up is usually the moment right before the miracle happens.”

The months of March and April have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for me, I really can say that I had my highest highs and my lowest lows to date. From a busy academic schedule to a lot of travelling, with the 7th of May beckoning so closely I can safely say it would not be getting any easier any time soon. Nevertheless this is life and this is the type of life we as young people should try and imitate. A busy life is always a productive life.  Productivity is one of the fundamentals of becoming successful.

Spending large chunks of my day at University, I hear students after a negative event saying “This is life” almost every single day but do we really know how life works. I know this could be something everyone knows already but I believe I am writing something that can aid a lot of people in their understanding and success through life. Life in my eyes, works as such, it is this constant up and down motion with extreme positives and negatives coming at the very top and bottom of your up and down graph. Usually when everything is going great, great as in winning at everything, your relationships with people are becoming better, more opportunities open up to you and you generally are just happier. This is when I anticipate a huge negative event coming along and just like clockwork it does. The same thing happens with a really bad time in your life, everything can be really sour, negative events can consistently occur, you can lose business deals, go through a negative patch with your significant other and lose at everything for a while, this is when you should know something great or amazing is coming along. Life is a test; a test where whether you are in the great or bad times of your life, hard work always needs to be there. It is all about keeping your head above water when it going bad and being humble and anticipating those things can change in a second when it is going great, I call this mind-set trait as having the ability to survive.

This is probably one of the best traits someone can have, the best thing about this is that you can learn how develop this mind-set trait in about 5 minutes and you can then further develop it into a habit. These are characteristics you should include ensuring that you develop this mind-set:

Have that never give up attitude:

That rock bottom moment when you feel everything is completely wrong and there is no coming back, that’s the moment when most people give up. This should be the moment when you should be preparing for your greatest triumph to date. Believe that nothing is too big to overcome.

Be positive:

Always find positives in every situation even if it could be really bad, but more importantly find double the number of positives getting out of this negative situation or improving the current situation.

Work Hard and do whatever it takes:

I remember driving to 14 different places on one specific day to get everything done; I also remember not sleeping for two days straight just to stay on track with my academic studies and complete 3 assignments due over 2 days. These are actions that lead to you surviving and becoming successful.

At the end of the day like I stated earlier, hard work is your golden key to surviving and becoming the best person you can possibly be.
