To Xhosas and Zulus Mbeki and Zuma's names should not be used to divide us.

The National Party during its regime of white minority government used the tactic of divide and rule.

It had an enemy, it was black and it was in large numbers. The enemy had to be ruled so it was divided into Bantustans based on tribal identities.

Transkei, Bophuthatswana, Venda, Ciskei KwaZulu, Lebowa, and QwaQwa were these Nations where blacks were divided based on their tribes and ethnicity.

Is the divide and rule tactic not relevant today ?

It is, the enemy is no longer just black now. Its in Green, Black and Gold and its called the ANC. It wins elections with huge majorities and its best at organizing South Africans of all races under its wings.

The continued harsh attacks on ANC leaders and those within the alliance are a carefully planned strategy to divide the ANC because that is the only way to reduce its powers.

The attacks on President Zuma are not directed at him as an individual leader but are directed to the ANC.

Most attacks are justified under the name of good governance and fighting corruption. Rightly so, they should be leveled for such. We deserve more but when in false pretense, we should point-out.

These loud attackers of President Zuma which are carefully selected to fill the Blogger, Culumn and Opinion sections of Newspapers and live-shows of television broadcasts have the same tactic.

They all hail the leadership of Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki. This is in false presence as if they once loved them: even opposition parties such as the DA joined in, praising Mandela and Mbeki and lambasting President Zuma.

By singling out Mandela and Mbeki they are as they have always done applying the divide and rule tactic so to see the end of the ANC.

It is unfortunate that blacks who have always seen this tactic but now are falling into it. The same people are now assisting those who sought to divide them.

Along tribal lines the Xhosas hail Mbeki and attack Zuma. The Zulus respond with attacks on Mbeki and hailing Zuma.

Unashamed, they even boldly say South Africa is owned by Zulus with Xhosas rejecting this using Mandela and Mbeki who are Xhosas like them as reference.

I see such on my Twitter time-line and cringe at this level of stupidity.

Their ammunition is scandals and mistakes that have happened in their administration.

When others throw "Nkandla" some throw "aids denialism".

Its more sad when even members of the ANC find themselves in these camps throwing stones of insults to their leaders.

Members of the ANC now find themselves in tribal and class camps armed with attacks on their leaders.

You will hear words such as "dictator" "polygamist" "illiterate" being thrown around. How fast have we forgotten that our culture and tradition, the level of our education were against us, justifying apartheid.

You will find the same people who called Nelson Mandela a terrorist praising him saying the ANC now no longer resemble what it was under him.

It is these people that want to see the end of the ANC. And the know, the only way the ANC will lose power is if it self-destroy.

They forget that its registered that close to 4 Million South Africans (wild guessing that they were white) voted for the National Party in 1994 not the ANC of "Nelson Mandela" they hail.

Now its hard to find those who hated Nelson Mandela. Its even harder to find those who voted for the National Party.

Its also hard to find those who called the International Criminal Court on Mbeki giving him the title of a "mass murder".

In another 20 years time, it will be harder to find those who hated Mbeki as even the DA, his number one hater is singing love songs for him.

I don't in anyway say ANC leaders, President Zuma in particular should not be criticized and held to account. They should!

But we should not allow the tribes they come from or the levels of education they have be used to divide us black people in camps again.

Those who are ANC members should know better. All of our leaders are unique, we will never have another Tambo or Sisulu or Mandela. We will never have another Mbeki or Zuma.

To expect Zuma to be Mandela or Mbeki is idiotic and amounts to wet-dreaming. Mbeki was different to Mandela, like he is different to Zuma and Zuma is different to them.

What is good is that all these leaders were groomed under the same ideology of the ANC. And all three of them valued and respected each other.

In their respective presidency, they have continued to implement policies of the ANC, not their own.

It is these policies the enemy does not want the ANC to implement. They have no other way of stopping their implementation other than to divide and weaken the ANC support base so to rule once more.

I hate tribalism because it has cost Africa many of her children.

When Germany arrived in Rwanda in the in the 1800s they told the Tutsi tribe that it was more Caucasian, more taller, more wiser than the Hutu tribe and that this made them racially superior.

The divisions and animosity between these tribes grew as one ruled the other based on these stereotypes.

The divide and rule tactic in Rwanda resulted in a war that saw the slaughter of over a Million people with three months in 1994. Over 20% of the Rwandan population was killed because of tribalism.

It 1994 South Africa escaped a racial war. One wonders if we could escape a tribal war in future because if we carry one like this, we might find ourselves in such a situation.

Because of our history, our politics are racial. It will be because of us if they become tribal and classist and will harm us in future and we will have no one to blame but ourselves.

Leaders such as Mbeki are our country's treasures and we should not allow their names to be use as tools to divide and rule us blacks again.
