We have been betrayed

2014-04-13 11:01

My Sunday morning sermon from the pew : We have been betrayed. Yes, we have been betrayed by our politicians and now is the time to reflect and re group.

Never, never and never again .......stills rings out as a declaratur full of hope and aspirations.

Fact is, the babbling brook of bullshit that Mr Zuma and Helen Zille are baling out as they criss cross SA campaigning ahead of May 7, is as effective as a placebo and, breaking news......we dont buy it.

I know that Mr Zuma and Helen Zille do have access to social media sites. After all the DA has got away with tweeting that Mr Zuma is a thief to over a million of its supporters. So perchance that they will read this, if not someone would tell them to read this, here goes.....

Dear Mr Zuma and Helen Zille, our most basic freedoms,to wit the freedom to survive decently and with haman dignity has been denied to us directly as a result of poor judgment and lack of principled as well as ethical leadership.South Africans,as John Pilger wrote in today's Sunday Times, have been betrayed. So why should we vote for or validate poor and unethical leadership on May 7?

Over 1,4 million people cry out every morning because they awake to a lived life in penury and have to rely on charity because there are no jobs.

The freedom flame,Mr Zuma, an ANC initiative currently flickering across the country signifies the fragility of hopes and aspirations going down in flames.

And you, Helen Zille, why should we vote for you? The Western Cape appears pristine and well run......not bad if you live around the City of Cape Town. However, down the road, away from the glitz and opulence we have Gugulethu and Langa burning. If you drive past these informals with your windows down and aircon off you'd be able to smell the pathology of their betrayal.

Am I wrong? Secret deals are not conducive for our imploding democracy Mr President and Madame Zille. Frantz Fanon warned against the creation of a false buffer of fabulously wealthy blacks who would play the role of intermediary between capitalism and rampant corruption.

Enough with what some comic wrote, the 'babbling brook of bullshit' that, recently, has engulfed the ANC and DA governments especially the ministries of finance, human settlements, labour, education and health.

Yes, life is better than it was 20 years ago, but when our most basic of freedoms has been denied to us we cannot in all conscience, vicariously endorse you through our vote.

We can stay as we are for the rest of our lives, or we can influence change not by spoiling our ballot papers as some political parties hope nor from abstaining but by using our vote symbolically.......
