What Does It Take to Create a Movement

In an earlier article I talked about the idea that you as an individual, as a separate person with your own personality and self awareness you have the potentials to start your own movement. You can start a movement are AWARE, you are in touch with your deep delicate self and not becoming a floating person that lacks deep into the most delicate intrinsic part of your being. People who lacks deep roots are shallow and whatever they do has no substance or attraction. With this foundation -that is  the realization of yourself you can start a movement. But is a movement?

A movement be it a liberation movement or religious movement is about a narrative. All movements have a narrative that tells a story about the reason of existence of that movement and the future the movement is trying to build.

The second factor about movements is that there is a connection between and among the leader of the movement and the rest of the people in the movement and there is something to do.

Creating a movement begins you an idea that you belief in and you share that idea with other people. You empower people to make connections, as opposed to commanding them. You establish foundations for people to make connections.

How did Wikipedia came into being as a movement? It has only about 12 full-time employees and had no source of revenue other than small donations. Wikipedia was founded by one person, out of Jimmy Wales came this great world wide movement. Jimmy Wales attracted a small number of people and engage them to a vision. He did not tell them what to do. He did not manage the process he just developed the idea and presented it. Wales connected the people together with a technology that made people to write and edit articles. You don't need to be an orator or subtle talker to initiate and start a movement - what you need is an idea that you can develop and discuss. Connections lead to connections - sound ideas spreads and crystallizes. People want novelty and style and stuff that is great.
