What's Happened to the Values of Humanity?

2014-07-14 08:38

So young and innocent, yet so much pain in his eyes...

This little boy weeps for his mother who was mercilessly killed in the recent  air strikes from Israel on the City of Gaza.

The City of Gaza, an open air prison camp.

Now you don't need to be Muslim to realise that these attacks carried out on Gaza are inhumane and against International Human Rights,  you just need to be human. Killing of civilians, innocent women and children, having their lives mercilessly stripped from them.

Like this little Palestinian girl, whose throat was slit by Israeli Militants:

What wrong did she commit to have such a fate meted out to her??

The statistics; Palestinian Death Toll: 172. People Injured: 1230. Israel Death Toll: 0 (Al Jazeera)

What has happened to the Value of Humanity?? What has happened to the Sanctity of Life??

In a recent statement by the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, he publicly announced that the vicious attacks carried out by Gaza on the Civilians of Israel is a call to act responsibly... Wait, what?

The collective punishment on an entire population is definitely contrary to acting responsibly! AND justifying Israel's actions by citing self defence? The last time I checked, it was the Palestinians defending themselves against the Israeli forces...

When injustice becomes a law, resistance becomes a duty...

In light of that... I shudder to think what acting irresponsibly entails....

As Naom Chomsky so rightly put it: "Israel uses sophisticated attack jets and naval vessels to bomb densely crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques, and slums to attack a population that has no air force, no air defence, no navy, no heavy weapons, no artillery units, no mechanised armour, no command in  control, no army and calls it war. It is NOT War, it is MURDER!"

This isn't a topic up for debate or discussion, the killing of innocent people can never be justified!

It's a rather cowardly act on the part of the Israelis if you ask me.

It sickens me that despite the UN's call for Ceasefire, Israel's response was to not only amplify the attacks, but stated that "they will not be deterred by International Pressures."

As a born free of South Africa, I was proud to see the ANC take a stand against the Occupation on Gaza and "condemn in the strongest terms, the barbaric attacks on the defenceless Palestinian people of Gaza." As the late Nelson Mandela (may he rest in peace) said: "we know too well that our Freedom is Incomplete, without the Freedom of the Palestinians.

Not only South Africa, but countries and people around the world like Sweden, France, Germany, Netherlands, England, Belgium, Muslim, Jew and Christian have taken a stand against such atrocities and inhumanity.

Protests around the World to put an end to the Occupation in Gaza.

It's time for the Occupation on Gaza to end, for the Israelis to give the Palestinians back their land and for the people of Gaza and Israel to Coexist and live in peace and harmony...

I pray for the day the Children of Gaza will wake up to the sound of birds chirping and not bombs exploding (if they even sleep at all)...
