When Three Yeshiva students are allegedly kidnapped in the West Bank......

This isn't a celebratory blog piece. Its a voice crying out to the deaf, the dumb, the blind and those who simply are past caring.

When three Yeshiva students are allegedly kidnapped in the West Bank, the World Cup holds sway. Or does it? Check out the world media site. We know more about Suarez's canine peccadillos than about the fate of these three innocent, yes innocent, students.

Over 200 girls allegedly kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria and the world weeps and contingency plans are set in motion to mount a rescue mission....

Fast forward to those 3 Yeshiva students allegedly kidnapped in occupied West Bank and, if one follows the media around the world, it seems that the world isn't interested. Blame this on the World Cup?

Lets not gloat over this. We lose our humanity if we condone what has hapenned.

What a cruel world, or is it? Three mothers are crying out, and the world doesn’t answer. These mothers addressed the United Nations Human Rights Council a few days ago. No response. Why?

The truth is, that’s how things turn out especially when your government openly thumbs its nose at the world for years on end, and eventually, what happens? Why,that same world thumbs its nose back.

Here is the irony, just in case you missed some crinkles in the choreographed creases of history.

Lets say, it an irony of fate. Because just about two years and a bit ago, the Israeli government officially suspended cooperation with that council. In fact together with the Marshall Islands, Palau and the U.S., it opposed the council’s very establishment !

The arguments doing their rounds, whilst the soccer mad world is taking a breather is that the world has no reason to be more interested , at this present point in time,in the fate of Naftali Fraenkel, Eyal Yifrah and Gilad Shaar than it is in the fate of their age mate Mohammed Dudin, a boy of 15 who was killed by live fire from Israeli soldiers in Dura last Friday. Remember him? I heard someone ask me when I raised this issue is what was so special about these three Yeshiva students? The world must have a uniform standard, he declared.

Whether the world would revive its interest after the World Cup, is something to wait and see.

It seems that it's no longer possible for Israel to demand sympathy from the world when Israel ignores the world’s decisions. Check out the UN web sites and you will count over 253 UN resolutions that Israel bared its bottom at. And yes, it’s no longer possible for Israel to demand action when it is perpetuating the occupation. And it’s impossible to demand solidarity with the fate of Israeli victims when that same victimised Israel continues to kill, wound and arrest innocents as a matter of routine.

Its so sad, but perfectly understandable for the world not to be interested in what is happening in Israel. If Israel was a just country the position would have been different.

When will all this end? As it is, an eye for an eye has left the protagonists totally blind.....................
