Will the #AntiZumaMarch finally unite us?

2017-04-07 09:38

I hope this day is the day our fellow white citizens finally understand the obvious and painful reasons why their fellow black citizens keep protesting every month everywhere, even if they have to protest alone along the squarter camps and block the roads.

It is not to frustrate you. It is, like you are doing today white fellow, to bring normality to a halt to frustrate the leadership of government and bring attention to a necessary problem after many avenues have failed through utter ignorance and arrogance.

Please, next time blacks-only marches blockade your M1 or Beyers Naude or any route to your work, remember the 7th of April and have compassion and understanding, even if you have not joined the march and do not agree with its cause. That march may barricade a road. But there is a just cause behind it, burning tyre or not.

Welcome to the typical world of the black man. And we shall come and ask for your help to march (not sure you will join even after this day and its black and white solidarity) to end the shacks (which are getting closer to your valuable suburban property to devalue it?), to collect the apartheid's R2b+ criminal loan to ABSA which can fund free tertiary education, for ending tribal demarcation in Vuwani, for a decent minimum living wage, for clean running water to the poor, for sewage systems to end the dehumanising bucket system, for tarred main roads and for equal and decent living for all. Not only for demanding a black president step down, irrespective of the legitimacy of the demand.

South Africa should be one nation on any day. Not on certain days when its convenient. If we are a rainbow nation today, so should we be tomorrow. Not a one-day special family.

May today's cause unite us forever, regardless of our differences and far beyond #AntiZuma.
