Call it brain fog, mental fatigue or what’s known as “sometimer’s disease” (sometimes you remember, sometimes you don’t). 

Whatever the label, it seems to increase with age – blanking on a familiar name, being tormented by that elusive word or even forgetting where you parked the car. 

It’s not necessarily a sign of early dementia, says Dr Gary Small, director of the UCLA Longevity Centre in the US.
