Amanda Bynes’ siblings are “pained” by her accusing their father of sexual abuse.
The 28-year-old actress launched a lengthy Twitter tirade on Friday alleging that Rick Bynes physically and sexually abused her. She later recanted, tweeting that her father “never did any of those things”, while accusing him of ordering her to be microchipped. But now Amanda’s sister Jillian O’Keefe and brother Tommy Bynes have come forward to insist the claims are entirely false, and just more proof that the troubled star needs help for her mental state.
‘We are pained by Amanda's behaviour but we absolutely give our full unconditional love and support to our wonderful parents.’
"We are disturbed beyond words that Amanda would come up with such a fabrication as a way to avoid getting much needed help or treatment,” the pair told TMZ through lawyer Tamar Arminak.
“We are pained by Amanda's behaviour but we absolutely give our full unconditional love and support to our wonderful parents."
Jillian and Tommy’s statement comes after their mother Lynn also came forward in defense of her husband.
Amanda had claimed in her rant that Lynn knew of Rick’s abuse of her and did nothing about it. However, Lynn says the allegations have left her “heartbroken”.
"I am heartbroken today for my husband of 47 years," she said in a statement issued to E! News via Tamar. "Rick has been the best father and husband a family can ask for. He has never abused Amanda or our other children physically or sexually. These accusations are absolutely horrible and could not be further from the truth! These allegations stem from Amanda's mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband's character could be slandered in such a way."
