"Just finished writing my last paper for the year!" she captioned a photo of herself en-route to her holiday destination.

"Packed and on our way to my favourite place on earth. It is now time for family, rest and awaiting our little miracle... So grateful!

Rolene, originally from Volksrust in Mpumalanga, is studying medicine at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein.

She and her family usually spend the December holidays in Hartenbos in the Western Cape.

And this year's vacation will be one to remember -- her first child with husband D'Niel Strauss is expected to make his or her appearance next month!

The former beauty queen previously told YOU how the timing of their baby’s arrival works perfectly for her and businessman D’Niel.

“It works out so nicely that the baby is due between December and New Year – just after my fourth year is done and before my final year starts.”

D’Niel lives in Stellenbosch, roughly 1 000 km from where Rolene was studying. Until she graduates next year, a long-distance relationship was all they can manage. “We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future,” Rolene recently posted on her Facebook page.

Rolene often posts on social media about how blessed she feels about the bundle of joy that’s on its way. “What a privilege to have a small miracle-person growing inside you. I pray for health, wisdom and an endless life to raise this little one to the best of our ability. I am grateful to have a one-in-a-million teammate and husband walking this path with me.”

She lives a healthy lifestyle and still exercises regularly. “This baby is already a part of the 5 am club,” she recently wrote alongside a picture posted to Instagram. “Up early every morning for a workout to start our day right.”
